Height is not simply based on genetics. There's been plenty of scientific studies that have determined a person's height to be based off of their environment. For example, air pollution is a major contribution to physical development which is why it's more common in inner cities for people on average to be shorter as compared to people who live out in the country with cleaner air. Dietary choices also play a role in height such as caffeine being linked to stunted growth if it's regularly consumed during the developmental process. Drugs, cigarette smoke, etc. also play crucial roles in that.

Did you also know that small people (midgets, dwarfs, whatever you'd like to call them) tend to give birth to kids who grow to be average heights? If it was mainly genetics, wouldn't it make more sense that small people would have children who also developed dwarfism rather than normal height?

What you eat growing up can effect height by a few inches but that's really it
