Why does being friendly and helpful have to equate to interest? I think that if you have feelings or a crush on her then you will misinterpret the attention, but from the outside it’s her being nice.

I don’t think I’d say it’s locking eyes with you and instantly start chatting, only because some people are just like that, myself included. I’ve totally seen a man or woman I know in a crowd and really comfortable with so I’ll go over and chat with them. To me that’s casual, but interest is different. There’s flirting, compliments, trying to touch each other in some way like their knee or arm, asking for a number or to go out, maybe get a bit jealous when you’re you’re talking to another woman, things like that.

She might just want to be friends. Or she doesn't know how she feels about you. Let her do what she wants to do and don't force anything on her. Treat her like she's a friend
