There is this apparent link to birth control and the kinds of men women find attractive. Further, younger women tend to be attracted to more feminine looking women, because they find masculine qualities to intimidating. So this kind of guy will always be most attractive to younger women, which is why your mom finds them repulsive.
It's just those pictures look feminine a little. They seem off like they give an I'm kind of bi vibe. But I see what you are trying to get at, and a lot of women like guys that look like that but a more masculine version.

I think "more masculine" is a myth perpetuated by society. Bigger or muscular or buff doesn't mean "more masculine". If you look like a guy, you look "masculine".
No one ever discusses the same regarding "feminine" lol.
