Yes, it can be appropriate and necessary to assert yourself and be firm in certain situations. Assertiveness is the ability to express your thoughts, feelings, and boundaries in a clear and respectful manner. It involves standing up for yourself, expressing your needs, and advocating for your rights without being overly aggressive or disrespectful towards others.
Being firm and assertive can help you establish healthy boundaries, gain respect from others, and effectively communicate your needs and preferences. It can also contribute to your self-confidence and overall well-being. However, it's important to strike a balance and consider the context and individuals involved. It's crucial to remain respectful and considerate of others' feelings and perspectives while expressing yourself assertively.
Remember, assertiveness is about finding a confident and respectful middle ground between passivity and aggression. It allows you to communicate your needs and opinions effectively while maintaining healthy relationships and mutual understanding.

Basically this 'friend' who is pretty obviously jealous of me texted me out of the blue.
She was a bit condescending towards me (I don't know if it was intentional or not). I had had enough at that point and just ignored her text.
