How do you start a conversation with a cashier girl?

Start small. Asking about her job or something related or comment on something relevant to what she's doing or the things around you.

Build up a little bit of rapport with her. Then start asking her about other stuff like about what she does outside of work. I recommend this method because you only have so much time while she is working. Unless you want to linger around when she's helping other customers which can be weird.

I got picked up as a cashier. He came in a few times and we talked a little more each time. I started really looking forward to when he would come in next. He gave me his number after a few visits.

Talking about the weather outside always works for me. As soon as I say I do not want to go back out in that heat, the girl usually starts a conversation anyway. Girls like to talk, I know that! You don't have to say much for a girl to start talking, unless she's shy. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I think girls talk more than guys do. But yeah, the weather is a good starter, or anything you saved money on in the store, because than you can start talking about your likes and dislikes. If it's a grocery store, it's really easy because you can talk about foods, like how you saved money on ice cream, and then you can bring up your favorite flavor. It doesn't take much for girls to talk usually though!

Start light-hearted, bit of banter, ask a question, try to make her laugh, have a little confidence, and be nice and friendly.

if she looks like she's not having it that day, don't bother.
