I like this girl and tried asking her out, but she claimed she has a boyfriend. We communicate on Instagram’s DMs and I sometimes show them to a female friend to ask for her opinion, and she claims the girl is sorta flirty and maybe even likes me

I will tell you three things:

• When you asked that girl, she was flattered and will remember that for a long time. And she'll think good of you for it.
• When she says she has a boyfriend, take it at face value. Don't look to work around it or anything else. Just move on. You used the word "claim". That's beneath you. Just believe her.
• Finally, never involve other friends in interpreting your texts or relationships -- especially in high school (and not necessarily when you're older, either).

So, just keep living your life. May the girl ends her relationship and ends up with you. Or not. But in the meantime just have a good summer and live your life.
