Girls, would it be awkward to you if a good guy friend said how sexy you look in a bikini?

I was at a pool party and a good girlfriend of mine came over to say "hi" and offer me a drink. She was wearing a two piece bikini and I said, "wow! You're looking sexy in that bikini"! She kinda smiled, blushed a little, said "thanks" and walked away. After that she seemed to avoid me. I also noticed if she wasn't in the pool, she would wrap a towel around her. Do you think I was out of line? My sister said she would be kinda flattered if a friend said that to her but it would be awkward. However, she did say it wouldn't piss her off. What are your thoughts?

She just sent me a text. She was complaining about how sunburned she is. I jokingly said, "I hope it wasn't awkward for you when I said how good you looked". She laughed and said, "are you serious? Do you know how many times I heard that yesterday? At least you weren't sloppy drunk when you said it". She's so cool! Lol

I just said it casually. Like, "hey, you're looking sexy"! I was looking at her face when talking to her but did definitely look her up and down as she walked over. I don't think I pissed her off but it may have been awkward for her or maybe a little embarrassing?

Good. We've been friends for a while. I'm just thinking it might have taken her by surprise because we really don't really compliment each other in that way but I was really surprised at the cute little body she has. I just kinda blurted it out before my brain caught up.
