Are girls really afraid of punching each other even in legitimate self-defense?

I was watching a scene (fictious) about a female villain character that has already murdered someone and was in the process of trying to killed the heroine by having her tied up and shooting her to death. Prior to that, she attempted murder on others too.

The heroine somehow untied herself and fights her. Both women are now evenly matched. The villain is evil, threatened to kill the heroine's loved ones too and she only slaps her around. lol

I would also be throwing punches, headbutts, elbows and kicks at the other woman, esp if said woman has tried to harm or kill my loved ones and is an evil psychopath. Why only reduce to just slaps?

If I were in a real legitimate, brutal fight with a woman that won't stop at nothing to harm me... I'm not going to just slap her around. lol
I'm going throw fists too. I wouldn't care about ruining her face or ''omg this is too manly''... not if it's a brutal fight.

I would like to think that a fictitious scene is different from how a real life one would be like.

I didn’t watch the scene as far as I know, but I was wondering if you think it was filmed for the male gaze? As in, the women only slap each other so that their makeup and hair can remain “perfect/in-tact” OR they can seem as feminine as possible when it comes to female on female violence (ie. Traditional “cat fights” only surmount to scratches and slaps) ?

well girls can easily get hurt and they don't recover as quickly from hits. one false move and it can be all over within seconds

True but I'm not sure I would care too much about a female psychopath getting easily hurt if she was trying to kill my family. I would want to finish her off by then.

I can see the typical catfight for these usual reasons:
- Girls fighting over a man (something I wouldn't do... it's stupid but it happens)
- One girl gossip mean things to another girl
- To humiliate the other girl
- The typical ''What did you just said about my mother'' fights, etc

But a murderess trying to kill the other woman's family would be on the ''finish her off'' category to me.

True. Some won't even it do it for legitimate self-defense. As for me, a female psychopath trying to harm and/or kill my loved ones... no way I'm going to reduce it at just slapping her around.

I think more girls should get basic training. To me, if I were just slapping around an evil female psychopath that tried to harm/kill my loved ones would be going soft on her. I would imagine going on total defensive mode and knocking her out/beating the hell out of her.
