Yeah that is possible to do that. It is pretty counter productive though. If you are attracted to someone and like them... avoiding them sends out a wrong signal. Not the best strategy. They might if they are shy or inroverted. Group setting can be awkward for people that are shy and they may shy away even more since they are nervous about liking someone and then also anxious about being in a group. So there are reasons for it.
Yeah, if they think there’s no point in pursuing anything with you; eg. different values.
Sure, I can see shy girls doing that.
