In your opinion, the prettiest female names begin with which letter (s)?

For me, it's M (Mary, Maria, Marie, Mathilde, Marta, Melissa, Magdalena, Meghan, etc). A close second is J (Jennifer, Jessica, Jenelle, Jill, Jan, Jacqueline, etc). A close third is A (Amy, Amanda, Allison, Anne, Abigail, Audrey, etc).

I think there are too many female names that begin with K, S and L.

I know they are just letters, but some names are prettier than others.

Studies have been done where names with hard consonants and soft consonants were compared for male/female names.

Female names were thought to be "better" with soft consonants or soft sounds of those letters which could be hard or soft, ie. Example C- Carl= hard K sound. C-Cyd- soft S sound. Male names were thought to be better with the hard sounds.

Names used in TV shows and movies observe this unspoken guideline frequently. Names such as Jake Kilbourn arise - and this would have the KILL vs BO (u) RN thingy going for it too, as well as the TWO hard K sounds!

I agree there are pretty names and not as pretty names. I have always like the name Samantha, Abigail, Andrea, Meghan, Mary Jane, and Sarah.
