Simple, they are what you lack to be. A whole person is one that would have every asset of life built into them which is impossible! So your partner that 'completes' you, has characteristics you lack. Why do you think they say 'opposites attract'? You're loving but our partner is dry emotionally. You're funny, other lacks humor etc etc. But, togther, you are complete!!

it's exactly that, as in, when you're away from them, or can't talk to them, you feel empty inside, they compliment you so well that when you're on your own, you don't feel like a complete person anymore, and when you're with them you feel like 1
