What does it mean to you to be ATTRACTED to someone?

Do you all mind adding your country to your response? I’m curious to see if there is a correlation between outlook and culture.

I find my view of attraction aligns more with the French perspective than the country I currently reside in, which seems to most often conflate and limit the idea of attraction with finding someone aesthetically pleasing.

I am personally not attracted physically to a person because I am not interested in being physical, romantic or intimate with anyone. This, to me, is placed as a good last on my list of priorities. Not being interested in a person on the looks, altitude above ground, 6 pack and whatnot, I would concentrate solely on 3 essential aspects of a person. Those 3 aspects are:

1. personality, 2. intellect, 3. character. That's it nothing more and nothing less. To me, that person can be short and chubby for all I care. If that person meets those 3 criteria, then I will be attracted INTELLECTUALLY to him and intellectually only. No emotions involved here.

As for the country, is this really important? 90% of the people on G@G will indicate that they are from the US when a large number of them are actually not from that country.

France. NOT acting as representative of culture lol, it'd be unfair, cultures are complex and I'm biased. Looking at the American English definition of Attractive:

Pleasing to the senses or mind
Attracting or drawing by moral influence or pleasurable emotion; alluring; inviting;
Having the power of charming or alluring by agreeable qualities; enticing.
Pleasing or appealing to the senses.

It points directly at option 2: Inexplicable connection. Personally, I'm calling it charm, it always meant that to me. If examining charm closely enough, which I don't really do, I suppose I could find out what is charming more precisely, but describing that would have to relate to whoever I'm charmed by. Defo contextual.

Attraction is just that, wanting to physically be with them. Like you can break it down into whether there would be companionship, wanting a family, whatever, but before any of that is wanting a physical connection.

Otherwise I'd want that person as a friend or acquaintance, not in any romantic way.

I don't know what the country has to do with it. If girl has nice face, big breasts, or a nice ass it = attraction it's not algebra. But England.
And of course I am attracted if they have a personality that works with mine, which again I think is pretty simple to work out.
I don't see how this would change no matter where I was born in the world. Perhaps if we go into conservative culture maybe but I think most men who are conservatives are faking if they are saying girls need to be covered up fully and not seen, sure let me check your porn history we'll see how committed to that idea you are.

And I think there’s a correlation between physical attraction and mental attraction.

Meaning people who are of a healthy mind often build a healthy body and appearance

Someone that is unkempt is someone that has underlying unresolved issues and lacks in maturity which makes them unattractive

Other than that I don’t put value in genetic traits such as height hair color skin tone

A person should be judged by the elements they can control about themselves

There's a combination of energies going on.

I find that "attracted" is actually sub conscious familiarity. I've experienced the emotions they project... and at the time I experienced the emotions, my personality/mind interpreted it in some way... either good or bad.

Attraction can be to someone that was hurting me or that I felt good with.

Where the original attractions come from, don't know... millenia of history of choices. For example, I like somewhat crooked teeth as "cute". Certain body shapes are attractive.

The underlying hormoens at the time then define what that turns into lust and such. You didn't lust anyone when you were 2, maybe felt love at various ages. etc..

and this all changes over time but most is develoepd in early life.

1 - optical appearance (slim enough, geometrically balanced, and pretty enough... the latter following my own 'standard')

2 - smart enough

3 - an agreeable personality, that matches mine in major aspects

Personally it’s too loaded a question to be specific or definitive. Getting separated has redefined the criteria for me, and I’m certainly not advocating myself as always being right. If fucking up life was a university course, I’d be an Emeritus Professor of Human Fuckuppery by now.
