A relationship can mean many things. Even "friends with benefits" who resist calling their relationship a relationship--is still having a relationship.

When it's positive and usually mutual, it's when two people engage in companionship together, whether it involves sex or love is irrelevant. This companionship can be a partnership, or it can be sexual with less interaction as partners.

When it's negative, these are usually two or more people who are together in an environment that is straining. These can commonly be bad work relationships. It could be two siblings who hate each other. Call it what you want, they are all still "relationships".

But if your topic is just focusing on love relationships--the kind that involve two people who are attracted to each other and go from there--the way we traditionally think of the word, it's usually an agreement that they have between each other to spend time, know each other for the good and bad, and enjoy affections together. What makes them connect is usually initial attraction and chemistry and the right environment that has them meeting. From there, they can decide if the situation is worth moving forward, or if there are obstacles in the way from being happy together.

To me, any good relationship is worth getting through hard times with, and not leave just because someone says, "you deserve better". I understand that every single relationship can have problems, and leaving one in a blink just because of a negative experience is just going to have you going directly into a new relationship where there will inevitably be a problem sprouting up there too. Petty disagreements are to be expected. They happen with families and at work, so why wouldn't they in a romantic relationship either? We all learn from all of our relationships how to handle ourselves, and every time we learn something new, we should apply it so that our next and possibly final love relationship can be the strongest one it can be.

Communication, shared goals, feelings of getting herd and able to understand each other and understand each other feelings able to feel happy when other one is happy and able to feel sadness in own heart when other person is sad.

I like two think of a relationship as an inside joke that only those two people are in on. I know that probably sounds goofy. But that's the best way I can describe a connection. That those two just get eachother. That they understand the other likes, dislikes, fears, motivations and aspirations. They see the best in eachother even when they're at thier worst they push eachother to succeed and be better than even they thought they could. You may be two separate people but when you've been with that person long enough faced the tribulations of life and grew as people together you almost become like two trees who grew and became intertwined. That two separate you would damage you both in many ways.

A lot can go into making mutual feelings between two people into a relationship mutual respect, good communication, shared values, done physical attraction is important too, shared interests, this list could ho on endlessly but I think you can get the idea of what I'm trying to say.

Friendship with mutual confirmed sexual attraction. I know for a fact that my girlfriend and I had sexual attraction even before we became friends. Yet until I asked her out, I didn't know that. So even though we had mutual sexual attraction, it wasn't confirmed until we became a couple.
Starting a relationship with a friendship is much easier. You already set the groundwork.
