Why is it two women get VERY pissed off when they discover the other is wearing the exact same dress but, two guys wearing the same thing is cool?

Women seek status from looking creative and unique; someone else wearing the same outfit show's that not the case. Well, no; actually it just shows that someone else had the same idea and thought it was good, but those who freak out over seeing someone else wearing the same thing aren't thinking that far ahead.

The interesting thing would be to see the reactions from a man and a woman wearing the same thing. I'm not sure whether that'd be "an interesting sociological experiment" or "the start of a romantic comedy", but either way...

Mostly jealousy, many women take their fashion very seriously and you can't stand out if your wearing the same thing as someone else. Men are more shocked by the coincidence and dont mind playing twins for the day.

Unless the item was supposedly made just for her, how could she think she'd be the ONLY broad in the world that bought a copy of that dress?
What if she planned to wear a certain dress at a certain event and her SO knew about it and decided to get every woman invited to wear the same dress?

Because it’s common practice for guys to wear the same thing, anyway. Women obviously care more about their appearance. With men, it’s blue shirt, red shirt green shirt half of the time. You go to a fancy ball, all of the women will more than likely be in different dresses with different trims, colors and such, while their date is almost always in a tuxedo. The same tuxedo as every other man there.

Women have a lot of weird pressure in the clothing area. I can go to the office on Friday with the same suit I wore on Monday and no one even notices. A lady wears the same outfit that she wore three weeks ago and she is likely to get some comments.

If you're in a restaurant and one girl gets up from her chair to go to the head, every girl in the place gets up to go too! One night, this one woman stood up and all the other women got up and the first one had to say,. "False alarm, girls! I'm just adjusting my skirt."
