Girls have you ever had a boy younger than you come up to you and tell you he thought you are pretty?

I was at the mall with 2 friends last night and this boy about 13 came up to me and said he thought I was pretty 😍 I could see he was really shy about telling me that. One of the girls I was with told him to go back to his crib which just seemed so mean? He just was like forget it. I felt bad for him and told him thank you 😊 He suddenly smiled and said I was welcome! My friend asked me why I was bothering with him? I told her I wasn't bothering with him but he just gave me a compliment and he was obviously really shy about telling me that. I asked her why be mean to him he didn't do anything except say I was pretty. And saying thank you to him made him smile. He literally didn't want anything else but to tell me that. He was so sweet. Her point was I made it seem like I liked him as a boyfriend! When did being nice to someone mean that you wanted to date that person? I was like no, but for him to come up to a stranger and tell them he thinks they are pretty must have been difficult for him to do. I thought what a nice kid to have the courage to say that! And saying thanks to him I could tell just made his day!! I remember seeing cute guys when I was younger and wanted to tell them I thought they were cute. He didn't ask anything sexual just that I was pretty. Would you have been mean to this boy or just say thank you? I guess my point is; I could have been mean to him like my friend was and made him feel bad for giving me a compliment, but why? He said I was pretty and I said thank you we both felt good 👍 And next time he might not be so scared to give someone a compliment?
