Why would a guy calls you 'very nice'?

He is also very nice to me - he opens doors for me and he picks some things I drop. He is also nice - so I am nice in return. Why did he call me very nice when I am just reciprocating his nice behaviour?

It sounds like this guy really likes you and thinks you're cool. Opening doors and picking stuff up for you is definitely flirty nice guy behavior. When you're nice back to him, it probably makes him happy and encourages him to keep chatting with you.

Calling you "very nice" is his way of complimenting you and letting you know he appreciates how you interact with him too. Guys don't usually go out of their way for a girl they're not interested in, you know?

I'd say he thinks you're a really pleasant person to be around. If he's also nice to you regularly, he's probably starting to develop a little crush.
