If a nurse says “you stay there” to a patient that was trying to jump out of bed while she attends to another patient?

No I don’t think so. Honestly w some patients you have to meet them w the same energy or they run all over you. I work in medical, we’ve had a lot of experience w this. Some people only understand certain responses. For example, I had to sit w a patient the other night, hostile, no female sitters. I have to elevate my voice a little because he is less likely to do something w a male sitter as opposed to a female sitter. He took a swing at the female sitter the first night they got him. But he understands it more coming from me as a male w that tone of voice as opposed to a female sitter. Plus if she’s had to tell the patient numerous times to stay in bed, after a while it can become frustrating. So you may have to elevate your voice a little to show you’re serious. But no I’m not coming at him rude as you better stay your ass in bed or something like that. Sometimes you have to be a little more direct too because if she’s doing something w one patient and she can’t leave that patient because maybe she’s giving blood or something and she sees the other patient trying to get out of bed. He could potentially fall so you have to be a little more stern otherwise you’re going to have a big situation on your hand if he falls.

Remember candy stripers? Hospitals used to hire and recruit volunteers for the specific purpose of making the patients feel less accosted during their stay, and this was on top of doctors and nurses who also followed that example more often than not.

Now most hospitals just have very rude and jaded doctors, nurses, and technicians who are unable to stay calm, bubbly and nice while performing their job.

This actually is a problem with most jobs now, people are just rude and bitter these days, and customer service is a dead trend.
