I’m confused with this girl, what does it mean?

I have worked with this girl for the last 3 months and she has always acknowledged me and made sure we have eye contact and she smiles. I’ve started talking to her a few times and now seems like she ignores me. Although when I notice her looking at me from a distance sometimes she waits for me to look and she smiles.
That’s why I’m confused because for example this could be with in an hour, we walk past each other I look at her and she ignores me then later I see her looking at me and when I look up at her she smiles. It’s frustrating because I don’t know what it means her ignoring me makes me feel like she’s not interested but when I see her looking at me with a smile I’m thinking why is she sudddenly being friendly and looking at me?

I'll be honest, I did this sort of before. Actually I have done it a few times. There was a guy I was talking to and I really liked him, but sometimes I would pretty much pretend I didn't see him there. I liked him a lot, and when he looked at me before we started talking I would make eye contact with him a lot and smile. Then when we were dating there were times where I wouldn't smile at him or just walk past him and "ignore him" pretty much. I did it because I was so insecure and felt like every thing I did would make him not like me anymore. I wanted to try and hide my feelings as much as possible too, and not look like I'm so into him, because I didn't want to scare him away. I also didn't want to show him how much I liked him in case we broke up because I didn't want him to think he had broken my heart. I was afraid of being hurt. There were times where he'd be minding his own business ( like you said, you'll be doing something and see her and you look at her and she smiles/she's friendly all of a sudden). I did this same exact thing. I would smile at him sometimes when he looked at me. Then sometimes look at him, he'd smile, and Id pretend to ignore him. I felt terrible afterwards. But I did it because I was insecure like I said, and I thought sometimes he was seeming to loose interest when in reality he wasn't. He was nervous, and shy but I perceived it as him starting to loose feelings. There was another time A guy worked at my local grocery store, he would stare, and I'd aknowledge him, and make eye contact and smile at him. Well, then there would be days where I'd see him again, he'd stare and I'd try to ignore him, but it was because I was afraid he would think bad of me if I was paying too much attention to him. We often perceive the worst, and run with the first thought that goes to our heads. I learned this from my cousin, who took counseling, and we will do things, thinking someone is thinking bad of us. So, maybe she is doing what I did. I encourage you to be confident, don't run with the first thought and I encourage you to ask her if you did something to cause her to act this way towards you, and maybe let her know how your feeling about what she's doing, or how you noticed she had been doing it. Tell her it has been confusing you, and that you just want to understand. Most girls I know like to be understood, so if you try to understand them and give them attention that makes them feel good. This may seem weak to some girls, to share your feelings as a man, but I've met tons of girls who truly like it when a man can talk about his feelings! Don't be discouraged from talking to her!

It means you need to stop over thinking things so much. Not every glance or smile means something. Can people not just be friendly to you without having an ulterior motive? Does everything have to mean they want to gop in the bed with you? Do other coworkers that are the same gender of you smile and look at you when they pass you? Does that mean they are all gay then? You see where I am going with this. The next thing I will say is don't date colleagues. It is a bad idea from the start. You think everything is peachy for a while and then the first big fight happens and you have that awkwardness at work. No one like that and trust me everyone else will sense it. It is just a bad idea.

Yeah I know I just think it’s weird when one minute she’s not acknowledging me and just walks past and the next she’s waiting for me to look up at her and she smiles. She obviously is wanting to have eye contact with me for some reason

Try making conversation with her, if she doesn't let it happen, I advise u to stay away from her and not play along as at any moment she will pull the plug in that and u will be harassing her. The girl walks away clean from this, it's the guy who takes the fall, trust me.

If u try making conversation with her and she just converse with u, walk away, avoid eye contact. She's baiting u in with that.

I did this before when i was uncomfortable around a guy who showed interest that i also was interested in but shy. I also didn't have a lot of experience so it was genuine, i was not playing games. I would be careful because you are at work so things can turn sour. There are two ways to handle this. One is to just keep things professional and treat her like a co-worker and get the idea of interest out of your mind. Two is to ask her out, but be very clear and firm, and if she says no - that's your answer, if she says yes then that's your answer. Three, you could ask someone at work to ask her what she thinks of you, but then you risk if that's a girl her competing.
