Girls, Would you break up with a guy if there was a possibility your children could be autistic?

So first I must say that at the start of the relationship I was completely transparent about being autistic I also provided material she could read to her her better understand me and how we could effectively communicate she never had time and would make excuses to not to read the stuff. Her family was also in denial cause I would hear her moms boyfriend say don’t call him autistic and I was like this is getting uncomfortable because it’s clear as day that they have preconceived notions and it’s not being accepted. But when we got to the children talk she asked if we decided to have children in the future would there be a chance of them being autistic and I go possibly with me being autistic and shortly afterwards she was like I don’t want my children being autistic and rather then understand me she could find someone normal

So I can't believe I'm actually saying I have a lot of siblings. I never really actually thought about this now that I think about it I have a lot of siblings. Needless to say it the original family has four including me that I think is the original family. There are two others that are a lot older than I don't know if they're actually from my mother don't really talk to us at all.

My dad also dated someone more recently who this is bad I don't even know how many there are at this point there's four I got it about 10 holy s***. My younger brother from the new mother I guess has Down syndrome. Apparently he's more violent so I don't know you want to have a violent kid beat the s*** out of you, lol.

Only one I actually care about the most is my twin he's nice to me well my two older siblings that are in my family confirmed like to try to feed me jelly beans with hot sauce and other types of stuff. I really confused myself thinking about this.

I'm my mother's prize possession because I am the only girl lol.

I think that’s pretty reasonable. If it’s something that you could take steps to avoid, why wouldn’t you? No one thinks “oh yes, I’d love for my child to be neurodivergent!”. You want the best for your children.
Personally I wouldn’t care much. Whether my child was autistic or neurotypical, I’ll still love them the same. I would still have children with my partner even if it had the risk of passing autism on. Multiple neurodivergent conditions run in both of our families so we’re already living with that risk.

The interesting part is being autistic I truly thought I was the weak link of my family then I started at university and was outsmarting people

Autistic people are often more successful in certain areas, academically/artistically. So that’s no surprise.

It’s really not just that anything an autistic person is dedicated to they excel at extremely well. If the relationship becomes one of their special interests which it did in my case all your energy is poured into it

I wouldn’t. I don’t think being autistic is a bad thing as long as the person can function normally in society. There are plenty of happy and successful autistic people.

That’s awesome and so true I kind of group the idea of not wanting a partner who’s in the spectrum out of the possibility of having autistic children the same as abortion of autistic or disabled children both on paper seem genocidal

A ton of high support autistic children who can’t ever live on their own come from two neurotypicals, so i dont know what the hysteria over a partner with autism is about
