Girls, Why don't you listen when older friends warn you about bad people?

To the young ladies -- and even the little chippies -- I'd like to know why you ignore the advice of your older friends, who have seen more of life and tend to know things that you're not yet aware of due to your own lack of experience.

I get it, youth is so exciting, everything feels fresh and new, you're looking for a combination of personal, professional and romantic "firsts" and so you may just be tempted to dive right in without thinking about what others think or say... but also without noticing a lot about the people you're about to attach yourself to... especially guys who are just bad news, plain and simple.

Cautionary tales have always been a traditional way for parents to teach their kids about the little hazards of life, but at some point kids stop listening (let's say around 12yo to be kind). Friends might try to warn you with their own life lessons as well... but many young people today will just ignore those as well...

So tell me... why not take a beat to listed to your older friends?

Ironically, it’s the older people giving the advice because they themselves did not adhere to the advice of their older counterparts when they were younger.
Truthfully, without experience there would be no growth or knowledge, so yes, it’s fundamental to go through certain experiences to learn. If a stovetop is hot and everyone tells you it’s hot and you decide to touch it anyway, you deserve to be burned for not listening, and now have been injured by your experience, but either way, you learned that the stove is hot. Just like the person giving the advice also needed to be told that the stovetop was hot, or touched it themselves to find out.

I avoid bad boy types and want a gentleman type. I do get what you mean about most women only going for horrible men. We are supposed to have good intuition so I don’t see how so many women end up with those type of men.
