Pretty much by the conclusion of your first encounter you know you like a guy (level 1, we'll call it) and are interested in learning more about him. Several chats/meetups later, you've heard and learned enough about him that you know you really enjoy various things about him... there's also a chemistry there... you "like" him (level 2). And as you continue to get to know one another, allowing both passion and appreciation to grow, you hit level 3 (love).
