Some men are honestly into them for being quiet, but I think the majority of men like them as a control aspect: a quiet female who doesn't seem very confident socially is easy to control and also desirable because they have the idea that she will be less likely to talk to other guys or have the confidence to cheat or go to another guy.

A lot of guys like shy girls because guys tend to feel like they are socially awkward, so a girl who is the same thing is what they feel is attractive or won't make them feel so bad about it either.

I think you need to determine if she is shy or just reserved. Taking myself as an example, in certain situations or environments, I have often received comments, from men in particular, that I am shy. On this site, it has been phrased that I am a "private" person. I suppose I can be very reserved, depending on the situation. But, I am about as far from shy as it is possible to be. So, I wonder how often someone who is really just reserved is perceived as shy. Is it really shy, which is defined as "showing nervousness or timidity" or reserved, which "implies reticence and suggests the restraining influence of caution" that you like? Either can be very different once they decide to warm up.

I guess it's mostly about the perceived innocence and fragility (a. k. a. cuteness), but shy girls are also generally easier to be with. I'm not exactly a smooth talker, so I like it when silence is not awkward. And it sure feels like an accomplishment to make a shy girl comfortable around me. Now, while the "innocence" part is not necessary true, not in the 21st century, when it's best to assume that no one is innocent, loyal or genuinely kind anymore unless proven otherwise, the correlation between shyness and innocence is still ingrained in most men's brains, and I happen to be one of them, all while innocence and virginity remain important traits of a potential partner for me.

It's a sign of innocence and inexperience which is naturally attractive to men.

It's not really easy to explain why because it's a natural instinct. It's sort of like asking someone why they prefer a certain color of hair. How do you answer that question? You just do.

There are theories about why men like innocence (it's related to virginity)... And since shyness is related to innocence it fits into that same category.

I've always found shy girls attractive because they seem to be less superficial than outgoing girls. They seem more cerebral and introspective which are attractive qualities to me.

Shyness can be an indicator of innocence. It also makes a guy feel more dominant and not intimated. I used to think I was into shy girls when I was younger because I myself was shy. But now after dating a bit, I realize I don't like having to take the time to break the ice and the walls they have to get them comfortable. I prefer girls that know what they want, aren't afraid to speak their opinions, and can easily make conversation. Girls that seem to be more bright and fun.

Everyone has their own tastes though.

Shy girls usually put time in to pick their guys. Bold girls tend to like to be chosen and expect more work from the guy to 'win them'. Guys love to be picked, they feel more loved than the bold girl who they have to continuously convince their good enough for her.
