A couple of weeks ago, I met a girl at a conference. I followed her on Instagram and we kept talking. She’s Hispanic, I’m Black. She kept saying flirty things to me about how she loves dark chocolate men like me, joking about how we would/wouldn’t work out as a couple, and she talked about moving to my city.
Then yesterday, out of nowhere, she sends me a message saying she’s getting “more than friend vibes from me” and says she thinks I’m a cool guy, but wants to be just friends. I’m so confused. What do you think could’ve happened? Could I have said something wrong and I need to read her mind to figure it out?

That is pretty confusing man. Here's what I think might have happened:
- Sometimes girls flirt at first just for attention and compliments, without really meanin it to go further. Could be she got what she wanted outta it.
- Or she could've been feelin you at the conference but ain't ready for somethin long distance since y'all far away. Distance probably cooled her off.
- Maybe some stuff came up in her personal life lately that made her less interested in datin around. Couldn't be nothin you did.
- It's possible she didn't expect you to be so interested still weeks later and it freaked her out. Or she met someone else and don't wanna lead you on.
- Some girls just change their minds quick, even if they seemed real into it before. Flaky like that, ya know?
I wouldn't sweat it too much man. Seems like she just lost interest for her own reasons. Nothin you could've "done wrong" necessarily.
Best thing is just tell her you understand, leave it at that, and move on to meet some local girls you can hang with face to face. Don't waste time tryna read her mind - on to the next!
She probably has a boyfriend. Don't blame yourself for that girls actions. You did nothing wrong
