Was she trying to turn me off?

I had a crush on my friend Liz for a couple of months. One day, she randomly texts me asking me if I liked her. I said yes and she told me nothing would ever happen between us. I decided to distance myself, but then she text me to ask if I was avoiding her. She said that there was no need, she missed me, and she wanted to be friends again.

Things return to normal. One day, we were talking about movies and she said she’d never seen the Rush Hour series. I told her she should watch it and she said she would like to watch it with me. We agreed to watch it at my place.

On that day, she came over 30 minutes earlier than I expected. When I open the door, she’s jumping up and down and asks to go to the bathroom. I point to where it’s at and she runs in there. I go back to watching TV. While she’s in there, she keeps trying to talk to me. I turn the TV down so I could hear her better, but as soon as I do, I hear plops. I go to turn the TV back up and she comes out a couple of minutes later.

She cracks a joke saying she feels lighter. I chuckle a bit and we don’t discuss it further. We watch the first 2 movies, then she says she has to leave. I haven’t spoken to or seen her since and it’s been 2 weeks. When I text, no reply. I know she’s still alive because she’s active on social media. Was she trying to turn me off for good? I just find this super weird.

Whoa, that is super weird man. Honestly seems like she was trying to sabotage things between you guys on purpose. A few thoughts:

- Coming over early like that, then rushing to the bathroom right away is a red flag. Like she wanted to make sure you saw/heard something embarrassing.

- Why would she keep trying to talk to you from the bathroom when she's doing her business? That's just awkward.

- Then making the "lighter" joke about it? That was her way of acknowledging the situation without apologizing. Rude.

- Leaving right after the movies too, without even hanging out more. She was trying to dip set ASAP.

- Now ghosting your texts? Clear sign she doesn't want anything to do with you anymore. Two weeks of no replies is crazy.

Seems like she got in her feelings after you confessed your crush. This was her petty way of making sure things stayed "just friends" by grossting you out. Still a messed up way to handle it though. I'd say let this one go man, she's shown her true colors now. You can do better than that weirdness!

No problem man, happy I could help give some perspective! Yeah it's definitely sounding like she might have just been being petty and messing with your feelings a bit. Girls can do that sometimes unfortunately.

I'd say just try not to dwell on it or let it bug you too much. Easier said than done I know, but the best thing is to just act like you don't even care and move on. Don't double text her or anything, leave the ball in her court.

Who knows, maybe she'll realize she was being dumb and hit you up again down the line. But for now I'd say focus on your other friends and hobbies and having fun. No point wasting brain space on a girl who's playing games like that. You'll bounce back in no time, and next time you'll know the signs better to avoid drama like this!
