I think they expect it because I have made it known that I'm protective of them. I don't think they feel entitled to it. I've been asked, I've offered to get involved, and I have decided on my own accord to get involved.

Probably not very highly. I don't think that's because they feel like I'm obligated to protect them because I'm a man.

The only real drawback I've noticed is that is my female friends tend to have contrasting viewpoints to mine.
