I was at a birthday party with a friend. Then I noticed her mother in law had some kind of judgy face while looking at her. She says everything is fine between them but a mother in law wouldn't look at her like that right if everything was fine?

Well first of all you’re accusing her MIL of being judgmental by an expression she supposedly had on her face, which means you too were judging her MIL facial expressions. For all you know maybe she ripped one, had a disgusted expression on her face cause she realized it smelled lol I think your friend would know best what her friendship e her MIL is like. Besides let me ask, when her MIL made this supposed facial expression what was your friend doing at the time? I know my kids’ boyfriends or girlfriends do things I’m not to crazy about, so yes I may have a certain facial expression that indicates I’m not crazy about whatever it is they’re doing, doesn’t mean we have a bad relationship though.

Maybe she did something inappropriate/inconsiderate/whatever that was disrespectful. You or I have no idea what was wrong.

How would we know?
She said everything is okay, so just believe her. Why would you spreading a rumor about them. That’s not even your concern, just be a good friend. Some people looking at people wit really sharp gaze.
