At first, I was surprised to learn that the median body count for men is 70% of the median body count for women. The mean (average) body counts are equal for men and women.

However, that makes sense because while men will have sex with almost any woman, women choose the top 20% of men. Moreover, since women are the gatekeepers of sex, men can only have sex if the women are willing. Therefore, men in the lower 80%, especially the lower, half have few opportunities.

That median relationship totally makes sense. If you think about it historically, almost all women had kids at some point, but a significant number of men never did. It's not a perfect analogy to body count (obviously) but a similar dynamic is at play. And yeah--the means have to be the same by definition.

Exactly. Historically, war was a MUCH bigger thing worldwide that resulted primarily in the deaths of the soldiers (rather than mostly civilian death as today) and those tended to be young guys of reproduce-able age. So you had a pretty severe "culling" of the male population before reproduction. The advent of monogamous marriage probably reduced this effect, in the last several centuries, but the dissolution of marriage as an institution probably takes us back to something more like what was seen throughout human history. Minus the war effect for most of the world.

Of course, the last few centuries or even the 10,000 years is just a flash in the pan compared to the 3 million years of human existence during the Stone Age. There were no large cities so there were probably no soldiers. Most people lived in tribes of 20 to several hundred people. Likely there were raiding parties during which all the men and older boys would fight to protect the women and children. If the raiding party was successful many and perhaps most men would be killed. The younger women and maybe the babies would be captured and assimilated into the tribe of the raiding party. That is one possibility. I guess no one knows.

Exactly--even in hunter gatherer days, you wouldn't expect most men to procreate. People didn't live super long back then and there were PLENTY of things trying to actively kill you between predators and rival human groups. Young men would be on the front line to defend against both and many would end up being killed off. Those who performed well and managed to survive would go on to father the next generation. And of course, there would also have been polygamous groups throughout much of pre-civilization humanity, which is similar to many other primates.

I don't like this social categorization of body county.

It should be zero to low. I'd much rather think in terms of loves and relationships and what the person learned rather than notches on a piece of wood.

If this is how the woman thinks, then I don't need her to answer at all.

Realize all of this question (and others) comes from a corrupt society that has so screwed relationships that we are having serious social problems, finding mates, raising kids, suicide, etc.. Learn to turn off the junk and do a 180 from society going the wrong direction.

This is just ballparking, because there is no black and white when it comes to this issue. The less guys a girl has been with the better, but people make mistakes and it's fine to get into relationships that don't workout and lose your virginity. Virginity isn't an issue. As long as the girl was with her partners with intention of the relationship potentially leading to marriage, then I'd say I'm okay with it.

That being said, I don't think a 14 year old should have had sex at all. An 18 year old, I might be okay with them being with 1 or 2 guys at most (assuming they started dating at 16). A 22 year old I'd hope for no more than 5. And a 26 year old, I'd hope for no more than 7.

I feel like once you learn your mistakes in past relationships and figure out what you really like and want in a partner, you should have more successful relationships in the future, so technically the rate of partners should be going down as you get older.

I'd be heavily suspicious of the intentions of those with more than what I mentioned and assume that they wouldn't last in a relationship.

Again those numbers are rough, but as a guy that's been in only what I'd consider 3 relationships by age 30, I do not want a girl that has been with tons more partners than myself.

I don't have the illusion that girls are really honest about their body count. There's too much negative stigma in society for high body counts, so I believe most girls downgrade their real number. Also in studies, it's not cool to talk about high numbers.

That said, I honestly wouldn't care if you banged a lot of guys. Actually, I'd rather see my girl have a high number than a low number. It means she's more open to experiment her sexual side. I care more about your morals. If you just did it all for your own enjoyment and you are committed and respectful, that's all I need. If you did it to cope with depression, a bad environment or narcotics, that might be a red flag.

If you want numbers for your ages:
14: 0 to 2. That's really young. It's cool to experiment with masturbation and maybe even play a bit with guys. Just no time yet to really get it going.
18: maybe like 20 or so? You're further with experimenting, maybe had a couple of boyfriends and hookups. Also, maybe some fun with classmates at parties.
22: 50. Let's go student life! Have fun and do whatever you like with whomever you like! Have threesomes, parties, hookup with strangers. Do your thing!
26: I don't care about the number at all. As longs as you don't try to break the world record for a gangbang, I'm fine with it. Just do it all for your own enjoyment.

I'm not really sure how to answer this , as its impossible to say really.. other than , I think 14 should be zero.

I think my count is wayyyyyyy too high ( honesty ) and everytime I think " it will never go up any higher " something happens to reverse that , I had a couple of highly promiscuous eras , but I was always super selective , and I was married for 7 years , never adding to it then , and also in some long term relationships.

That's why I think this question is difficult , because what if she has a 5 year relationship from 18 - 23 years say? How do you put a number on it?

It is important because I think, to an extent, it counts as part of a person's character and world view. Also, in a very practical sense, it matters because of the very real possibility of STIs, including AIDS. I can't imagine a 14-year-old having sex. No one that age is mature enough to deal with the potential consequences of sexual intercourse. Most kids (teens) can't imagine what it would be like to raise a child, have an abortion, live with a chronic sexually transmitted disease, etc. Even "curable" diseases like Chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause sterility. Then there is the emotional baggage that can come with sex. And despite the idea of "friends with benefits," that rarely works.
