Do people dislike if you answer honestly when they ask how you're doing?

I've pretty much always just said I'm doing well because it's expected. But recently I have the urge to stop capping. I'm not okay

I prioritize honesty over comfort. You might say that you're doing well, but I can often sense when you're not. That frustrates me because when I ask how you're doing, I genuinely want to know, not just out of politeness. It really depends on the person tho, some people don't care, while others do. If you have a close connection and feel comfortable sharing, why lie? But if it's just a casual interaction, feel free to say whatever you want.
