Ladies, what do you hate the most about men today?

I’ll save you the length of the entirr list and just tell you the one thing I dislike most about men today: their ideal of masculinity is based on previous generations of men who had an unequal power balance in society. As a result, men hold the expectations of those previous generations’ influence and don’t know how to act when those expectations aren’t met, to often very negative outcomes.
For example, Dad married Mom because Mom was cute, and they got along well, they shared interests and she wanted to have kids just like he did. Dad didn’t acknowledge that Mom married him because social pressures told her if she didn’t and still got pregnant with the baby of the man she loved and whose children she wanted to have, she would be deemed a slut and a whore, socially shunned and gaining a reputation that would follow her to her job making it not only hellish but could also get her fired from it.



Dad was influenced by Grandpa and Grandma. Grandpa married Grandma because she had a good personality, cooked well, and kept a nice house. Grandpa didn’t acknowledge or care that Grandma married him because she had no choice to maintain financial stability when she couldn’t have a house in her name, an apartment in her name, or a bank account in her name, or if she was found to be visibly pregnant at one of the few jobs she was allowed to have as a woman, she would have been fired. Grandma would have been left homeless if she didn’t marry Grandpa.


Grandpa was influenced by Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma. Great-Grandpa married Great-Grandma because she kept a clean house, she did what she was told, and kept him happy. He didn’t care that Great-Grandma also had no choice but to marry him because Great-Grandma was not legally recognized as a person, but property. And she couldn’t vote to change that because she had no right to vote. She also couldn’t divorce him even if he beat her to near-death for not doing what he wanted. If Great-Grandma didn’t marry Great-Grandpa, she would not have survived and most likely would have died in the street after her father’s death would have left her with nothing since his estate would only and could only be legally transferred to the next male heir.


And because Great-Grandpa, and Grandpa, and Dad all influenced the men of today, the men of today came in with the expectation that just not being abusive and having a good job would make him a good man and desirable. Now that women are equal and are able to actually hold a standard to the men they want to be with and marry, they’re floundering and this inability to recover is influencing everything they do that makes them so intolerable.

It can all be combined into one simple thing, honestly.

Dangerous men.

And I don't mean in the "oh you ride a bike, and have piercings and tattoos, you're a little dangerous, aren't you?"

But I mean those who pose a serious danger to the safety of others (self defense and so on is not included). This includes men who rape, or make it so other men feel safe raping someone. And it also includes if they don't speak up if they see something. Do they let a friend do immoral things, put a blind eye to their actions?
It's everything like that.
