Guys, Do I come off badly?

so there's a really cute guy that i pass in the hall (well actually outside) between some of my classes. and when i first saw him my face lit up with a small smile and I turned away and walked by (unconfidently and tense, as is usual now) when i glanced back i saw him smile, but I dont know for sure if it was about me. I've been trying not to turn away but also not to stare. but when i look at him he looks at me. But I hope me looking at him (mostly indirectly) isn't making him uncomfortable or me turning away and glancing and not smiling making him think I dislike him. Should i stop? should I be more direct and smile or somthing? Should i walk faster to avoid running into him so much? Also how do i relax? I tense up when I get nervous. Thanks ahead for your help.
