Why is this girl who lives in my building always so rude to me?

She always walks so close behind me when I’m walking out the elevator/door and once stepped on the back of my shoe and said “sorry” in a really passive aggressive tone. She’s literally right on my tail and I don’t walk that slow at all. No one else does this. She also chews her gum so loud in the elevator and snaps it.
This girl is really obnoxious and I wonder if I should report this.

The way she's walking so close behind you and stepping on the back of your shoes is just plain rude. And the passive aggressive "sorry" along with the loud gum chewing - it's like she's going out of her way to be obnoxious.

I wonder if she's maybe trying to mess with you on purpose or get some kind of reaction? Some people can be really petty and immature like that, you know? Maybe she's jealous of you or threatened by you for some reason.

Whatever her deal is, it's not cool at all that she's making you feel uncomfortable in your own building. You have a right to feel safe and respected in your own space.

I think you should definitely consider reporting this to the building management or whoever's in charge. That kind of aggressive, disruptive behavior shouldn't be tolerated. Hopefully they can talk to her and get her to knock it off.

In the meantime, try not to let her get to you too much. Keep being the bigger person and don't stoop to her level. Just grey rock her as much as possible - don't give her the reaction she's probably looking for.

I know it sucks having to deal with a rude neighbor like that, but hang in there. You've got this! Stay strong, and don't hesitate to take action if the behavior continues. You deserve to feel comfortable and respected in your own home.

I think it'll be hard to get management to take action on her. She'll say stepping on your heel was an accident, and nobody can prove differently.

That just leaves the annoying gum-chewing, which I'm afraid is not likely to be enough to constitute grounds for eviction.
