Why do women always say they’re sorry when another woman loses her baby, even though many of them believe it’s just a clump of cells?

This question points out what seems like a contradiction in how some women talk about pregnancy. They might call an unborn baby just a “clump of cells” when it comes to abortion, but if they have a miscarriage or someone they know does, they suddenly treat it like a real baby and express sympathy. What a bunch of hypocrites

It is a clump of cells early in the pregnancy. It has the potential to become a fetus or a baby, but not always. They are saying sorry for the loss of what could have been for their dreams.

A miscarriage is a hard thing to deal with. We went through one ourselves. It wasn't so much that the focus was on the cells that weren't viable but the idea of a future we were planning out for a child and ourselves.

Aren't we all a clump of cells? Which brings me to you're other post which it isn't so much about a my body my choice (which should be the case) it's where people stand on when the baby becomes conscious
It's a little insensitive to not feel bad they lost a potential child. Being a parent is amazing and having to take up mental emotional and physical space to make sure the baby and the mother are ok is extremely tiring and probably viewed as time wasted if the baby doesn't make it

We're sorry because the woman was hopeful of having a baby but was disappointed. If the pregnancy had lasted more than a few weeks, she had invested considerable time in the pregnancy as well.

But we don't hold funerals as after a miscarriage. We don't name the embryo. by the way at least half of all pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion.
