Is that a sign of interest?

There’s this girl I started working with. Little after we started working she talking about two coworkers. She then said they were a couple. I said oh interesting. She then asked me in a somewhat curious tone if I had a girlfriend. I said no. She said why? She’s Chinese by the way. I’m not trying to stereotype I was just curious if in Chinese culture it has different meaning. When I say Chinese, she was born and raised in China only.

Is that a sign of interest?
