Why does my makeup always look ass?

So, I will rank three options in ascending order of usefulness, in my opinion. But the best option for me, requires the basics already.

• Online tutorials. They get you the basics and options of alternatives. But they are not personalized and often thats, what makes the difference.
• Friends/relatives that are good at it. They know you and you can give you guides.
• Have it done by a proffessional once. They will know what could suit you. They will personalize for what you want and can give you creative ideas on what to try. After learning that, you have a much easier time to replicate a toned down version of that.

I learned the third option when I got my makeup done for my wedding. I had three appointments but two where specifically because I wanted the end result on my wedding day.
She got me into ideas on what to try and what would suit me personally that I would have never tried myself. I did the basics before and what I liked but not what a professional would have guided me too. Asside from the actual wedding part these appointments where worth it.

Do you mean to say it looks cakey? Try a good primer before you apply makeup and make sure the tone of your foundation is perfect and concealer isn't too light or dark and make sure to blend your foundation well and lightly tap your concealer to make sure it doesn't get smudged and blends well. If you wear heavy eye makeup then wear nude lip shade. If you wear dark or bold lipstick, keep eye makeup to minimum to balance it out. If you need eyeliner or mascara tips, I can give you that and there are so many good videos on how to apply blush, eyeshadows and stuff. You can check them out on YouTube. You can use just primer, combined with face powder, and concealer, that's kind of simple, you can't go wrong.
