I'll address your question from a purely logical point of view. (I'm not artistic in the least so I can't comment on the I do it for me factor).

Some girls are less aesthetically pleasing, it goes to say that if everyone is beautiful nobody will be. But makeup offers an avenue to these girls, and obviously many take it. It's magic in a bottle, if you could make yourself more good looking I'm sure you would.

Another thing is the contrast. Seeing a girl who wears heavy makeup, sculpted to perfection, unless she is incredibly beautiful beneath, will look in your words 'uglier' without makeup in comparison to her made up self. Chances are you wouldn't think this if you had seen an average+ girls bare face every day sans makeup. In natural faces, facial structure isn't as clean cut as good makeup artists can make them look.

But lol at all men look good without makeup. Who are you fooling? Both sexes have equally as many conventionally attractive members as the other. There are plenty of unfortunate looking men too, a lot (not all) of them just grow beards instead of wearing makeup. That attitude is why women have to look at so many ugly men in porn, straight guys don't notice flaws in other men unless it's in their personalities. Ye aren't looking for them.

Actually simple answer to that, we are the superior sex of the species. It's fact and nature's dimorphic properties, don't blame me blame 'Mother' Nature she loves us more... lol We naturally look better and women look far less attractive without makeup because makeup is utilized to synthesize and trick the male gender into thinking they are sexually reproductively viable, it's instinctual and originates from the lizard brain vs the limbic or neo cortex. Instinct always overrides logic, neoteny (google it) is what males find attractive in human females, and make up is used to synthesize that youth and beauty, hence why I will not date. A pig with lipstick is still a pig, rather a plain honest girl.
I've been with many women and I am turned off by makeup, the more they were, the more repulsed I am because the person behind the face are rarely ever the same. When I was a DJ you could call the women who were skanks vs the ones who got no action. The more layers the more mileage on her (or will be) = stay away from me.

At a certain age make up helps to cover certain flaws. There is make up that is very natural and not look like a clown or over do it, which I dont like over do it a make up, the less the better , just to cover the necessary flaws. Make up is use to give just some color to your skin and enhance soem face features like your eyes, make them bigger or lips, etc. What is wrong if you wear make up? Of course It is just terrible when girls put lots of make up and over do it thati si just awful.
