I recently started a new job and my male colleague who shares my table with 2 others treats me very differently from everyone else. He seems to have an ego problem or something in that he never asks me how I am or greets me in the morning like everyone else. He's about 30 and married and on the one hand is helpful, but on the other, purposefully ignores me sometimes when I speak to him, pretending that he can't hear me when I know he can. He also takes great pleasure in purposefully not meeting deadlines for submitting work that I need from him and then lies that he has done tasks when he hasn't, meaning that I have to chase him for it constantly. He does not behave like this to anyone else. He also likes to wind me up in other ways, although the other day he brought my favorite sweets into the office for everyone to share after obviously overhearing a conversation I had with another colleague about how these were sweets I loved, which was weird. I find him infuriating because he seems to purposefully want to make working with me difficult, but at the same time he can't seem to look me in the eye when I talk to him, acts weird around me, yet chats to all the other female colleagues in the office. Other times, he will talk to me but seems awkward, trying to be all macho. However, if I have a problem, such as my computer playing up, he will be over like a shot to help out. Just what is his problem?
I would say that he likes you and that he does all the other things because he is torn between being married and then not being able to chase you. So it makes him a little upset that he can't at least try for you. But, make no mistake there is a like there. And that is his game to get you worked up.
Good Luck,
