Why does she keep texting?

So this girl keeps texting me, sometimes not for a week. Sometimes drunk, sometimes just checking in whenever.

But she can never tell me why she texts me, she just can’t explain. She also once said she ‘wasn’t ready for me’.

I guess she is attached/interested in a way, but why, she won’t really answer. Anyone have a take?

She sounds like a waste of time. She's probably looking for some kind of momentary gratification by getting your attention or hoping to get it. And with her sporadic check-ins, I'm willing to be there are other guys she also texts like that. When a girl doesn't get attention from some guy, she goes trying to get it from the next. I don't think she's serious about you or any other guy, and probably doesn't love herself either.

I would delete her number and move on. Or if you really want to be direct about it, just tell her you're not interested in all that wishy washy stuff and let her go.

Well based on the constant texting, it's pretty evident that there's at least some modicum of interest. The contrasting statement by her could simply be literal in this case. I don't think that there's any underlying meaning behind it...

In summary, I would presume that she likes you but she isn't ready for a relationship. Do you know if she just came out of a long relationship or whether she has any emotional baggage? If so, then it pretty much affirms this possibility in my opinion.

As to what you should do, it really depends on whether or not you have feelings for her. If you don't, then you can easily maintain the status quo.

However; if you do, I'd suggest asking her out for coffee and clearly stating your desire to pursue something further with her. Let her know that you understand her need for time before she can decide on anything. Also, that you have no issues waiting and that you'd like your intentions to be transparent.
