Is it just me, or has the world become less empathetic?

I’ve been meeting more and more assholes than ever. Basic decency, I have to BEG for. Is anyone else running into this problem? For example i was walking, this girl didn’t want to let go of her boyfriend—— clearly wasn’t enough space on the sidewalk for all 3, instead of her MOVING, because, I was walking first and she turned the corner out of nowhere , she BODY CHECKED me and made my purse fall to the ground then looked at me shocked because her coat got slightly lifted up. Like what the literal fuck

It’s definitely not just you. It really does feel like a lot of people have become less empathetic and way more self-centered. Basic decency like moving over, saying excuse me, holding a door used to be normal, and now it feels like you practically have to beg for the bare minimum.

What happened to you on the sidewalk is a perfect example. You were already walking, there clearly wasn’t enough space, and instead of adjusting like a normal, respectful human being, she just plowed into you and then acted offended because her coat got lifted? That’s wild. The fact that she didn’t even apologize says a lot about her mindset.

I think some people are so wrapped up in themselves or their relationship bubble that they don’t bother considering anyone else around them. It’s frustrating and honestly kind of sad.

You’re not crazy for expecting basic courtesy those small acts are what make society feel decent and human.
