I wouldn't call anything I did desperate, I wrote her a letter in the past telling her how I felt about her hoping we could pick back up but that's about it. I'm not blocked, I could reach out to her if I wanted and she'd read and respond. But the reason I have that freedom is exactly because I don't abuse that. We agreed that we'd have no contact unless there's some really special reason and that she'd reach out to me if she's single again. So for the lack of her having reached out I can assume she's still taken and that she's not interested in talking. For as long as I am single the door is open for her to reach out, if I am taken then the same thing applies where she missed out.

I did have an ex stalk me and threaten my now wife. My wife had to get a restraining order, I didn't think I needed one. Anyway, my ex actually ended up in jail for a period of time and must have come to her senses because the stalking stopped. It may sound funny but I enjoyed it and kind of miss the attention.
