They use make-up, lighting, filters, photo-editing, AI editing, and they take a thousand photos to get one good one that they actually post.

This commercial was done 15 years ago, before the first beauty filter existed. What's possible today is far beyond what this commercial shows, but look at how they were able to visually lie to you even back then!

To be blunt, you'd have to be an idiot to believe that any social media photo is an accurate representative of the person themselves or the lifestyle they're portraying.

The reality is that the vast majority of people's social media is a lie to some degree or other, and some people go really, REALLY far.

Did you know that some people rent time in movie sets that look like the interior of a private jet, so they can take pics for their social media and tell people that they fly in private jets? And some people actually rent real jets just for photoshoots - the jets never leave the tarmac but people take pictures in them.

Lots of people will rent an Air-BnB and portray it as their own home. Or rent expensive cars and portray them as their own. And some people just create AI backgrounds - a few that are convincing and a lot that are VERY unconvincing, yet a surprising number of people are still convinced.

As I said, anyone who takes a social media photo at face value is an idiot. There's a million ways to lie, and almost everyone uses at least a couple of those ways, and some people use as many as they can.

They choose the best pictures out of the thousands they took, use some filters and maybe a little A. I photo corrector, and there you have it.. They look like models on the net..

Some overdo their touch ups so things are filtered OR the light is very particular so the pic came out nice.

But sometimes it's accidental. I had a pic taken recently that was SO POPULAR -- no filters, no edits, nothing -- but because of the very strong natural lighting and the angle of the shot I looked 25-30. Do I walk around looking like that every day? Well, folks tell me I look like I'm in my late 30s/early 40s bc I don't wear a ton of junk on my face and am generally energetic and friendly towards people. (I'm always polite and thank them, but bottom line is that while I'd never fake a pic then show up looking "less than"... sometimes a pic just comes out really good... it's accidental.)

In real life beauty is just less noticable, because you immediately see multiple angles of someone. You can notice flaws in make-up, their face or their body up close (not that they are flaws. I just mean things that don't show up in photos aswell due to light/editing). And a pictures is the best moment of yourself. You choose how to look, how to act and how to come across. In real life those options are all harder. It's not about catfishing, it's just photos in general. And in real life you might not notice everyone, because there are many things going on around you at once. Online you scroll and look at pictures one for one, with more attention.

Well, my response isn't about the internet specifically. I mean they use filters.

But about makeup.

Few women ever go out without makeup. Most women aren't as attractive as they think because their faces are disguised by makeup.

Few natural veauties out there.

If all women had to go natural with no fake additions their looks would drop a point or 2.

Some of women's beauty is fake.

Filters and makeup. The majority of women are a 4 to 6 in looks and they try to hide it with filters and makeup then lie and pretend they think they are a 9 or 10.
