Depends on the editing and filters. I am not good with those so generally most of my pics are really bad. The one in my profile is the best one but that also doesn't really shows how I look in real life. I look much better in real than in pictures (from my phone).

I wouldn't say they look worse, but they often look different. A profile picture is usually one of the best pictures of the person, while in person you get to see what they typically look like.

by the way, this applies to men as well as women, possibly more so.

I believe so. Women tend to be more photogenic and better at taking and editing photos and selfies. It seems like the majority of men don’t understand the concept so end up making themselves actually look worse in pictures.

No, quite the opposite for me. I look mad terrible in pictures, but look decently attractive IRL. Granted, I’m not exactly the best camera person and do not know the basics of lighting and angles.

No, it's clear that's the same person. Angles and expression make a huge difference, even a 10/10 can be caught looking unflattering in a bad angle and expression.

A lot of people use certain type of lighting, pose certain ways, suck in their abdominal region, use angles etc when it comes to photos of their self. To me I rather see how someone looks in person because they usialy are more relaxed.
