Should very young girls be allowed to wear make up, and if so, beginning at about what age and what make up?

I think too much of it, or actually any of it, on very young girls makes them look like pedophile bait. I hate that look.

I think that the way is done in Mexico is kind of ideal...

schools do not allow any makeup all the way to the end of high-school so that's age 18... so, for any girls who want to use makeup, they would do it on the weekends maybe, or only on the few hours left of the day

nope, not all of them... and by the moment they're 14/15/16 they do start wearing make up but it is a very very subtle one, little things here and there and so, what they learn, regardless of the age... is to the very basics and do that well, and also to do it with the less possible, which ends up being a very good habit by the time they get to college and are free to do as they wish.. the vast majority of them do as less as possible

and all the "cake up" they leave it for certain occasions only and so... all of the things that could go wrong with/because of makeup are just a lot less likely to happen

When they can afford to buy it. They can play with it as children.

A friend of mine took the approach of humming Entry of the Gladiators whenever his girls came in with too much make-up on.

How young is young, do you mean as in 10 yr olds? No, they should not even be told to wear it, because at that age they are not in need of it. I doubt it would be good for their self-esteem as well. When a girl reaches the age of 16 or so, if they want to wear something simple like lipstick, it should be allowed if she wants it. Makeup should enhance your looks, not cover things up.

Probably practice around 10 or 11 and not wear regularly until around 13 is right about the sweet spot for me anyway. I personally don't wear makeup myself but my daughter is super interested in my supplies so I let her practice now and she will be 11 in March.

Girls have their entire lives ahead of them to worry about makeup and all.
The older to act like an adult, the better. Girls should be focused on having a happy healthy childhood.

It's fun to play with while growing up but we didn't actually start wearing any out of the house until 13.
