How do single pregnant women afford rent and bills if they can’t work?

Let’s say you are single mom and guy dumps you after you get pregnant and you neevr lived together and you live alone. How do you continue pay your rent and car bill and everything if pregnant woman cannot work and need rest at home eat cravings all day? I never understood this? Let’s say you have no sisters no family. What do girls do? I’ve always been curious. Do jobs just fire you for being pregnant or after you give birth or what?

I know someone who was in that exact situation, and it was extremely difficult for her, although she kind of got herself into that situation because she already knew the guy was a no-good but she kept on with him anyway.

In many cases your job is federally protected for 12 weeks while you're on FMLA, your job can't fire you. And some girls will definitely end up alone, yes. How do they fair without any help? I really don't know. I'm sure some try to do some kind of side job like remote call center, bookkeeping, or DoorDash or Uber if they're not terribly pregnant yet.

This is why you're supposed to be married before having kids, and not just having a casual boyfriend.
