Nowadays people get offended by everything so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone got offended if someone else wished them a Happy Mother’s Day especially in today’s world. As for you a mother you may not be to a human however if you have a pet you can be a mother to your pet.

My grandpa used to give all of us flowers on mother's day and say "to the current and future mothers" so we all felt included. It became a little family tradition and we were all very happy to be considered and included.

If you want to be OFFENDED by a positive gesture, go ahead, just don't poison the water for everyone else.

Unless you’re just someone who wants to take offense to everything, then no. You said yourself they were just handing out roses, you’re acting like they singled you out with a bouquet. I’m not a mother and I would’ve found it very considerate to just give one to each woman rather than asking individually. You don’t know what a woman is going through today. Could be loss, loneliness, devastation. There’s no need to ask questions, just accept the offer or don’t and go about your day.
