What girl hasn't wished to be a little mermaid at one point or another?
My mom always wanted to encourage reading, especially as like an entertainment past time, instead of just popping us down in front of a movie. She would offer incentives and things like you can stay up late, as long as you're reading a book. She didn't have to offer benefits from my sister and I, we both loved reading. My brother on the other hand… my mom read the little mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson, and in the book the Little mermaid doesn't actually have a name, none of the mermaids do. I think she was just "the youngest daughter of the king of the sea". Or “The Little Mermaid”. Either way, I think most women nowadays think of Ariel from the Disney film, rather than the little mermaid in the book. But hell yeah, I absolutely loved it. I would've loved to have been a mermaid.
