So I was at this yoga studio. I did the monthly intro, and then purchased a weekly unlimited packaged. After that I purchased another weekly unlimited package.
Recently I registered for two classes on the same day. Both I had registered only after a spot opened up (as in someone else had cancelled) as they had been full. My gut feeling is there may be some friction as I'm not contributing significantly to the studio and signing up for more than one class etc. - but I was like I didn't do anything wrong.
When I got there they were AWFUL. Like when I came in the lady was like I noticed you're on a weekly unlimited pass are you visiting or something? I said I might move so that's why (this is true). She then said something kind of like throwing shade (to someone else): that once someone signed up for a monthly unlimited pass and I was like hello? where are you never heard from them (it sounded like she was shading me as though there was something wrong with someone signing up for unlimited). I ignored it and just went to my class. I got this weird feeling from her like she said 'you guys were able to get into this class,' twice etc. I wasn't sure it was aimed at me so I ignored it.
I had stepped outside as there was a half hour break. When I came back (on time, in fact five minutes before the next one), the lady said: ... You're back! (the way she said it was rude as though she was saying you don't belong here... you're actually back! I said calmly: Yes, I have an 8 pm class.
She backtracked a bit and said yes I have you down you're the last one (to join) (I was in fact 5 mins early). I also noticed the other front desk people were also acting a bit funny, looking away quickly looking down etc.
During the class I was coincidentally seated next to her. Once when she was correcting my pose (I did not ask her to), she almost gave me a bit of a smirk. Later on when she was correcting something I said, 'Yeah I was reaching for my bolster,' and she said oh okay etc.
When I was leaving people were saying bye goodnight etc. she said to me bye goodnight. But I know she had sensed I was resisting her exclusion so to pour some water over the whole thing.

Before Covid I worked at an all women’s private gym/spa in a very wealthy area. We had a number of yoga, cycling, and Zumba classes that I was I charge of schedules for. If the women you’re dealing with are anything like the regulars I had for the few years I worked there, then I totally understand where you’re coming from.
The class members at my location were mostly middle aged with a few younger ladies, majority of them housewives or whatever. They were very clique-ish and oddly serious about both attending these classes (evening Zumba more specifically) and the spot they were in. We had 30 spots for each class, and they were so damn cutthroat about being in the first 10 spots because those were the two front rows. Aka the best view of the teacher.
If you were new then good luck, you’re getting side eyed and gossiped about. I’d have numerous complaints from a few women in particular who would come storming out of class, making a fuss if someone new didn’t abide by certain rules. Like if she were number 26 but stood in the front row because she didn’t know any better, I’d have to embarrass the poor woman by stepping into the class, whereas the teacher would pause everything and basically as the woman to move. Now everyone in the class is sighing and shaming her for the inconvenience, it’s sad. You’d have to be a regular for at least a few months before they warmed up to you. We rarely ever got new class members that stuck around because those women could be so mean.
All this to say, if you enjoy the class then try not to focus on the rest. These women in my opinion are either bored outside of that studio or don’t have enough excitement in their lives. Sure you could find another studio and I promise they wouldn’t notice, since they most likely get new girls often. It’s just they don’t stick around, and you can be the one who doesn’t get ran out of there.

Hey, thanks for sharing! The woman in question was a staff member one of the teachers. Not sure if she is also part owner or not but I don't think so.
