Did I do anything wrong?

I went on my first date with this guy and on returning he said how he wanted to kiss and hug me, I felt soo good, but then he said he would've eaten me up had I been there, I felt a little uncomfortable as I am still a virgin.. When I told about this to him, he said sorry but started acting different, became a little cold.. Then when I asked, he said that he feels that there's a huge void between us and it would not be a good idea to take things forward, I begged him to look at things from my perspective, but he didn't understand.. I got angry and even I ended things from my side and said that I was naive that I expected a serious connection out of him.. Then I asked him for his upi id and paid him half the money for food as he paid the entire bill and even paid him money for the petrol as he dropped me to home, it was about my self respect.. Was I wrong anywhere?
