The reason I ask this somewhat oddly specific question is because me and my girlfriend went on a beach trip with her best female friend tagging along and when hugging goodbye I 100% expected for them to put their clothes on first and then hug but to my shock they hugged each other while still in their bikinis.
And if it matters at all it wasn't like a side hug or whatever it was a full body tight hug similar to the example. And both were in revealing bikinis too so there was a whole lot of skin contact going on including bare cleavage pressed against bare cleavage.
And it just occured to me that that's the equivalent of me and a male friend gave each other a long tight full body hug while both in speedos and there's just no fucking way that's happening regardless of how close I am to you.
Are friendship standards for men and women really all that different? That women don't mind hugging other women while they're both practically naked?
I'm afraid to ask my girlfriend directly because I don't wanna feel like I'm judging her friendship with her best friend and also because I don't wanna look like a fool if this is something women normally do and I just wasn't aware of it.

I think the problem here is that you are over thinking this by a country mile. What does one layer of fabric matter versus two layers? Hugging a friend with a t-shirt on and a bra underneath is not all that different for us. Your example of speedos is not really the same either.
Breasts are not genitals. I also have yet to have the hug with a friend where she wraps her legs around mine. I don't see the huge deal with this really. Men seem to view breasts way different than we do.
Perhaps you are right I'm over thinking.
For me about the fabric and layers I'm just personally really sensitive to skin on skin contact so it surprising how many women seem completely unbothered by it.
I imagine for women breasts are just normal and casual but for men they're basically made out to be the epitome of female sexual attraction. "Ass or tits" being a common thing horny men ask each other.
I definitely wouldn't like my bare chest touching a male friend's bare chest either though.
Her chest isn't bare though. Ha ving a thin cover up that I would wear over a bikini top isn't adding a lot.
By bare I meant my girlfriend and her female best friend were wearing low cut bikini tops with some cleavage showing and when they hugged their cleavage touched but like you said I am over thinking way too much lol.
But either way you are right. Having a t-shirt or whatever over a bikini top isn't gonna make much of a difference.
Did you grow up in Palestine?
seriously, who gives a shit.
It's not gay if you give your mate a hug in shorts.
And I just don't see why anyone would care in general. Not everything is about shagging.
It just came off as shocking to me is all.
And I agree with the shorts thing but bikinis are more akin to speedos than shorts.
I wouldn't hug my mate in speedos.
Friends hug friends. I am not sure why that is so baffling to you.
For me it's about the skin on skin contact. I'm just sensitive to my skin touching other people's skin.
this is normal lol😅😂 wearing a bikini vs wearing a shirt, it’s just a hug lol
Gotcha haha. For me I'm just extra sensitive to my skin touching another person's skin but I guess most women just don't care about it.
hmm ig i’ve never really thought about it before!!🤔🤔 but if it’s just a platonic hug then i wouldn’t think anything of my skin touching hers🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Lol 😆
That's definitely an observation and a detailed one!
And definitely that sounds like potential bisexuality / bicuriousity of those two ladies
No wonder some cultures discourage showing skin -
Let alone pressing 😅
Bisexuality of bicuriousity huh.
Honestly female friendships are kind of odd that way in that as in if male friends were half as affectionate as female friends are with each other they'd be labeled as gay dudes but women do all that stuff and are still considered straight.
Well I guess not having external genitalia helps. Wouldn't wanna cuddle with a bro (fully clothed and platonic) and feel his dick on you. Women don't have that issue.
Absolutely, why wouldn't it be? 🙂↔️
The reason I ask is because standards for female friendships and male friendships seem to be completely different lol.
If men were as affectionate with their same sex friends as women are with each other everyone would think they were gay... which of course there's nothing wrong with being gay but straight men usually don't wanna be labeled as gay.
OMG... Have you seriously only just woken up to the fact that men and women actually do behave differently at times to friendship standards.
Maybe you need to try getting out more often.
I know but it's just sort of shocking.
How the genitals you're born with basically dictates your friendship for the whole rest of your life.
I wonder how it would've been if we were socialized for the opposite. As in men would hug each other all the time but women rarely hug each other. Men would be more affectionate women would be more cold.
