I got my girlfriend flowers and she and friends laughed at me? Should I break up with her?

It was raining here today and I really missed my girlfriend since I haven't seen her in a while so I thought I'd do something nice. She lives far from me, so on the way to her house I got her a bunch of flowers which was a bad idea because by the time I actually go to her house they were wet and pretty much ruined. I was soaked as well, I didn't know she was with her friends. When they saw me they all just burst out laughing including her. She later apologized for laughing and said she was only laughing because her friends laughing made her laugh. I don't see what's so funny. I traveled 3 hours in the rain and she didn't even respect or appreciate it enough to even say thank you. Its so heartbreaking she never cares or does anything nice for me. I've never seen any girl do this for a guy and whenever a guy does it he gets laughed at or it's people say he's "supposed to". I'm so tired of these dumb double standards. I feel like just leaving her. She obviously doesn't care enough to say a simple thank you. What do you think?

Anybody took time out of there day to buy me flowers without an occasion, Just to let me know they are thinking of me, I would be very appreciative. That is a very sweet gesture.

She can't appreciate you for a simple unrequired gesture of affection and love, How are you going to feel when something special between you two actually happens? How is she going to act when you want to feel appreciated and loved?

I think you should consider the possibility that you are in a relationship with someone who thinks highly of herself. That is certainly not something many guys do for special occasions, let alone just randomly. You sound very thoughtful, and she sounds very entitled. Find a sweet girl who will give you a peck on the cheek for that. :-)

wow it's like someone reversed the roles here. I beg to differ, as a romantic I would love to buy my man pal some flowers but guys don't like flowers or feel like I'm mocking their masculinity if I were ever to do such a thing.

I think you are overreacting. Sure she's in the wrong since she didn't say thanks but still. If you are really bothered don't do it again but since you are considering breaking up just do it, obviously you guys aren't madly in love with each other or else you wouldn't be considering such a thing.

PS if I opened my door to a soaking wet boy who brought me flowers my heart would melt and I'd want to give him the biggest hug not caring if I got wet, so cute X]

It might be because she thought it was cute or adorable that you were soaking wet and of course it's not going to be funny to you because you had a long drive over there and got her something that you thought that she might have liked. It was a nice thought...but how did they get ruined? did you not cover them while in the rain? It's up to you really. I think it's sweet that you did that for her. =)

Sounds like a pretty poor girlfriend. If she does things like this often then yea I would leave her, there are much better women out there for a nice guy like you. If she makes you sad or upset all the time, you have no reason to stay with her. When she realizes that you aren't there to hold the door for her, give her chocolates when she is sad, be there for her when she needs to vent about something...she will be wishing that she could take that one moment back when you drove 3 hours in the rain to bring her flowers and all the other little things you do for her.

Not saying what she did demonstrated very good character, but I don't blame her. It is pretty funny and pathetic what you did. You were trying to buy her affections, and when that didn't work, you were trying to be a martyr, like Bruno Mars in that video where he drags a piano across town.

Here's what you should do:

1. Man up. Flowers look good in a garden and add value to a property. If you're gonna give a girl something, make her work for it.

2. Dump the bitch. She outright disrespected you. You need to step up and demand better.

She cooks for me whenever I visit her. She's not that bad... simply too insensitive. If you feel unappreciated and there's no reciprocation, and you feel like leaving her, then you might just try it. If she really cares about you, you know she'll change her ways as soon as she realizes you're breaking things off. If she doesn't, then that's your answer about whether she actually cares about you.

I only got flowers,once, early (like 3-4 date). It was charming, and we were together just over 10 years. So don't be rash.

I think you don't have a car, or don't have access to public transport, or worse, can't even afford an umbrella. I don't know what made you think walking with flowers for 3 hours in the rain was a good idea. They have delivery services you know.

That said, her response was needlessly cruel.

I mean, I don't mind crapping on your ego because I don't know you. But she does, and she should know better.
