Aw man, that totally sucks dude. Breakups are the worst. I know you must be feeling super down right now.

But don't do anything drastic, okay? As bad as it hurts, going off the deep end won't help. Give yourself some time to mourn the relationship and feel all the feels. It's okay to be sad.

After some time has passed though, I'd say try to keep yourself busy. Hang with the guys, play video games, work out - anything to take your mind off it for a bit. Maybe pick up a new hobby too.

And don't try to contact your ex for a while. As hard as it is, you gotta give her space now. She made her choice - so respect that even if it's hard.

Down the road when you're feeling a bit better, maybe you can reach out to try and get some clarity on what went wrong. But for now, just look after yourself. There will be other girls man - this isn't the end!

It's gonna suck for a bit, but you'll get through it. And who knows, maybe in the future things could work out again if it's meant to be. But for now, stay strong and keep your head up!

You should accept her decision as final. You may not know her reasons or, if you do know, you may not think her reasons are valid, but that doesn't matter. If she does not want to continue in a relationship with you, why would you want to continue forcing yourself into her life, making her unhappy, and ultimately yourself being miserable?

Take some time to think about that happened. What was good about the relationship? What did she have that make you happy? What did you do that made her feel happy? What went wrong and how did you contribute to the unraveling of the relationship? What can you address in yourself to try to avoid repeating the same mistakes?

Spend time hanging out with friends. Distract yourself with a hobby or a new interest. One day, not too far away, you will realize that you aren't constantly thinking about her and that you are letting go. That means that you getting ready to start dating again.

In the interim, put all the effort you can into physical fitness, gaining marketable skills, and getting involved with your community. Work on moving on. Bury yourself in your work or hobbies. Delete all pictures of her and prevent yourself from talking to her again. Block her on everything. Man, 9 years seems a bit extreme! Are you SURE you're really over the last one? Maybe a change of location would help. Maybe you should look into a different city or town to live in; check out the job opportunities, housing costs, how much you might like the surroundings, etc. Since you're single and unencumbered, it shouldn't be that hard. "Starting a new life" could be the jumpstart you need.

Take the time you need to heal. When ready, make a list of everything about her you disliked. Sounds petty, but it really can help eliminate the idealized version guys (and girls) often create of an ex in their minds.
